Culture and art play a significant role in many aspects of our wellness. Along with enriching our imagination and creativity, learning about culture and art deepens the connection with ourselves and in turn boosts our wellbeing. Learning about Culture and Art is especially beneficial for second and third generation Australians, as it provides an avenue to connect with the richness cultural stories have to offer. Not understanding or feeling disjointed from cultural practices is one of the main reasons for loss of identity, anxiety and such issues.  Warli paintings are believed to be one of the oldest form of art in history. It is a form of tribal art which owes its origin to the state of Maharashtra in India. Often characterised by geometrical patterns, Madhubani art form is one of the famous art forms in India. Widely practised in regions of Bihar and Nepal, the paintings often depict a storyline of festivities, scenes of royal court or weddings. In Modern times, this art form is used to depict storylines to raise awareness of social issues. This six week workshop is for any young person (10+yrs and above) interested in exploring and dwelling into the world of Indian folk of Warli Painting & Madhubhani. Facilitated by Shraddha Gupte a Sydney based Australian Indian artist whose work is inspired by natural elements like animals, birds, humans and natural scenery in my art. She specialises in regional art forms such as Madhubhani and Warli. During this session, along with exploring the art form, participants will have the ability to gain cultural insight of exploring mental health within the South Asian landscape. ​Spaces are limited.
